It’s no longer a rocket science that practising mindfulness and meditation makes us feel calmer, grounded and more acceptant. When growing up in my home town in Portugal, people who meditated or were involved with mindfulness were either a group of people who decided to step away from general society, or were very religious or were just civilians often labelled rebels and anarchists. I was part of that parcel. Sure, my extravagant teenage cloth wearing helped to brand me as such, but that shouldn’t matter: if you meditated and focused on things that wasn’t part of people’s routine, they immediately set you aside and secretly admired you. Today, everyone talks about meditation and mindfulness everywhere in the world. And society has changed and developed. Feeling connected, that moment when you are part of all, and the all is part of you, is one of the most magical feelings I have ever felt in my entire life. And one thing is to know about it, the other is to feel it. Despite being a spiritual person, I am also a very practical & pragmatic individual, so for me, I need to test, experiment and if something doesn’t work for me, I ditch it, but I am aware it might work for someone else. To those who are not as practical as me, I urge you to desire feeling this amazing oneness in you. Go and work a way to make this happen to you! Just like any goal, it requires dedication, even if just using the law of attraction or any other you prefer or feel more inclined to. If there is one thing the covid-19 pandemic should have taught us is that we all depend on each other. What one does affects another person, and so on. Being connected can happen in many ways, and it makes us feel better, and shows us that we are not alone. And even if we are, we have so many communities around us worldwide: technology makes everything closer. If it ever fails, we’ll always have ourselves and our souls to connect to each other in this or other realms through different ways and methods. Have you ever felt connected to the moon cycles or to the sea, or a beautiful tree? This is because everything around us is alive and we are all connected. If we learn to appreciate the beauty of it all, and learn with it, we soon understand more benefits of feeling this connectivity that’s reliable on our own magnetic field. Learning from others makes us more resilient, and having a positive attitude contributes to it as well. It all leads to an enhanced sense of well-being. How can you feel more connected? Meditate! Every day: during a walk, a short trip to the supermarket, a shower, etcetera. Meditation doesn’t have to be static, it can be done in movement. Breath! The one thing we keep on forgetting. We take it for granted all the time, but if for once you focus on it, and find ways to be in touch with it, you can gain the power of decreasing you blood pressure, your stress, your anxiety and even increasing excitement. No time for breathing? Before sleeping, set 1 minute to just simply breath and listen to it. Express yourself! Through body, mind and soul. Do arts and crafts, go for a jogging, complete a sudoku activity, try something you’ve been meaning to try for long time… Expression involves putting yourself out to the world and universe. This is a very important thing. If you don’t maintain your professional network, don’t expect people to constantly flood you with job offers. The same goes with you expressing yourself. For those who have never felt oneness, there are some cool activation ways of doing it, but you’ll need an expert to do this activation for you, provided your soul is ready to receive it. Sometimes unfortunately, it’s just not the right time for the person. But even though oneness might not be felt, one can still look after themselves and their well-being. The same techniques described above apply. I would suggest adding a few: Do something for someone else! Volunteer, donate some clothes, give food to a homeless person… Do something for yourself! I know a lot of you sometimes do so much for others, but little for yourselves, so now it’s the time to do something for you. Have that bubble bath you have been constantly postponing, eat that ice cream you have been meaning to try for ages, just simply sit in quiet and read a book… Do a list of why you are amazing! This one might be hard for some, but trust me: you are amazing at so many things and have an amazing soul and light, so go ahead and write it on a piece of paper, on a board, wherever you prefer. And last but not least, there are times when we all need to speak to someone, open up for a talk, have someone who listens to us. And that is okay. Sometimes we also need help, and that is also okay too. Be the amazing person you already are!
